Milano,24 ottobre 2012. Impregilo has won the tender issued by the Public Works Authority of Qatar for the design and build of a storm water drainage tunnel for the collection of the surface and groundwater in the city of Doha, capital of Qatar.
The contract has a value of approximately 100 million EURO.
The project involves the construction of a main 9.5 kilometre water collection tunnel with an excavation diameter of 4.5 metres, and the construction of 21 access shaft.
The excavation of the tunnel will be executed with the use of two Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM).
The work will be completed in about four years.
Impregilo has been working successfully for many years in the Middle-East and is currently involved in Abu Dhabi in the construction of much of the so-called STEP Project (Strategic Tunnel Enhancement Program). This is a hydraulic tunnel of 40 kilometres of total length, 25 of whose are being built by Impregilo. The project will allow the collection to a treatment plant of the city waste water.
