Pietro Salini: we expect a record year in 2017 from Lane Contruction and the United States. $800 million in January

Milan, 10 February 2017 – “We expect a record year in 2017 from Lane Construction and from the United States. In January alone, Lane reached $800 million in new orders acquired and orders in the pipeline”. These were the words of Salini Impregilo’s CEO, Pietro Salini, speaking to the Group top management at an internal convention.

Lane Construction, the United States subsidiary of Salini Impregilo, is one of the leading construction companies in the United States, specializing in civil construction and construction materials in the transport, infrastructure and energy sectors. Acquired in January 2016 by Salini Impregilo, Lane operates in the United States, bringing together its expertise in the road and motorway sector with the Salini Impregilo Group’s skills in other areas of major infrastructure, particularly bridges, tunnels and metro systems.

With revenues of around $1.5 billion and 5,000 employees, Lane has operations in over 20 US states. In the United States the company is the first contractor in the Highways sector and the largest private producer of asphalt mixes and one of the main players in P3 (public-private partnership) market, having been involved in projects worth over $4.4 billion.

Lane Construction is currently working on a number of strategic projects in several states which include the construction of the Purple Line, a light rail line in Maryland valued at $2 billon, and the I-395 Express Lanes in Virginia, valued at $336 million.

The new contracts strengthen the Group’s presence in the US, a market that accounts for 24% of Salini Impregilo’s revenues, now targeted to increase to 30% by 2019. The company is aiming to occupy a leading role in the country’s infrastructure sector, in which President Donald Trump has promised to invest $1 trillion.
