Occupational health and safety has always been a top priority for Salini Impregilo, and the company has always guaranteed the safety and well-being of its employees and of third parties. It does this by adopting a system that ensures their protection and welfare across all activities, both in its offices and in its construction sites.
We guarantee to manage health and safety effectively in each operating site by employing dedicated staff to oversee risk assessment, planning and training programmes, as well as engaging our employees and sub-contractors, and monitoring our operational activities.
By adopting the Safety Management System, certified according to the BS OHSAS 18001 standard, Salini Impregilo has in recent years succeeded in obtaining important results. It has raised the awareness of health and safety issues among its employees; it has reduced accidents at work; it has taken action to prevent occupational illness; and its has lowered insurance and compliance costs.
Every year, we continue to promote activities that bring greater awareness as regards occupational health and safety matters. We do this by investing in training and in activities capable of creating greater awareness among our personnel.
In 2015, we delivered some 637,500 hours of training to our employees on health and safety issues, as well as 82,800 training hours to sub-contractors’ personnel. Additionally, we trained 4,500 people in first aid, and 7,900 in fire control and emergency response.
