Work on Terzo Valico renews: 600 new jobs, 5,000 at full rhythm

Work has resumed at the Terzo Valico dei Giovi high-speed railway project as Lot 5 becomes the next section to come on line, leading to the creation of 600 jobs in the coming months. The latest hiring brings the total number of workers – both direct and indirect – at Consorzio Collegamenti Integrati Veloci (COCIV), the consortium responsible for the project, to 2,500 this year. The number is expected to rise to 4,000 in 2019, 4,400 in 2020 and 5,000 in 2021.

Salini Impregilo CEO calls for long-term vision, infrastructure investment in Italy

“Italy urgently needs a long-term vision for infrastructure to stimulate growth and renew a healthy process of job creation,” Salini Impregilo Chief Executive Pietro Salini told today the annual assembly of the country’s national association of builders, Associazione Nazionale Costruttori Edili (ANCE). “This is a historic moment in which the infrastructure sector is enjoying conditions that are very favourable. Many countries are experiencing a phase of expansion and consolidation with very low interest rates and a financial system that is interested in investing in the sector. In this context, Italy is a paradox because it has a high savings rate and economic resources that are available but that are not being used.”

Salini Impregilo signs Texas high-speed train accord

Salini Impregilo has signed a limited notice to proceed (LNTP) with Texas Central, developers of the 240-mile, high-speed train service between Houston and North Texas, to serve as the lead for the civil construction consortium that will build it.
