“Lia Manoliu” National Stadium was built as an arena type stadium, with an extremely high capacity of seats, and classified as Category I (International competitions).

Rehabilitation and modernization works included: demolition of the existing stadium and construction of a new 55,000 seats arena; platforms, roads, parking areas, alleys, pavements, carriage road accesses, green sports; coupling to the networks of public utilities (water, sewerage, natural gases, electric power, telecommunications); technical spaces (heating station, ventilation station, water management).

On May 9 2012, the “Lia Manolium” National Stadium hosted the UEFA Europa League final match.
